SOCHI. Feb 15 (Interfax) – The United States is seeking to oust Russian companies from European market by including them in different lists, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said.

“Why are they doing so? For purely pragmatic reasons, this is because they want to promote their companies to European market, but, saying it straightforwardly, Europe and the U.S. are now living through not the best period of relations, and to oust our companies, sever economic ties, which have been established between companies from the European Union and Russia for decades, and to promote their own projects,” he said on air of Rossiya 24 (VGTRK) television on Thursday.

Medvedev cited the Nord Stream gas pipeline project as an example of this situation.

“There are a lot of examples, but I will cite probably the largest one: the Americans are countering our Nord Stream right in their laws, but this is not because it is inconsistent with the ideology of the U.S. Administration or Congress, but for simple, prosaic reasons, as they want to promote their liquefied natural gas to European market and to try to get us out of the game,” he said.
