A little more than a year ago, the Ukrainian people chose a path of fundamental change. Citizens took a stand in Kyiv’s Maidan Square for the right to live in a free, independent and prosperous European country and to put an end to endemic corruption and mismanagement. More than 100 people gave their lives during the Revolution of Dignity. Since then, another 6,000 have died defending Ukraine’s territorial integrity, while one million have been forced to leave their homes due to the war in the east and the illegal annexation of Crimea.
