Over half of Ukrainians aspire to sign EU-Ukraine Association Agreement – poll

KYIV. April 8 (Interfax) – Most Ukrainian citizens would like the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement, including establishing a free trade zone, to be signed as quickly as possible but stances as to when this should be done differ.

According to the poll held by the Rating sociological group, the results of which Interfax obtained on Tuesday, 38% of respondents believe that the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement should be signed as quickly as possible, and 21% think it should be signed when Ukraine is ready for this.

Meanwhile, 31% of Ukrainian citizens are opposed to signing the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement, the survey showed.

The EU-Ukraine Association Agreement is mostly supported in western Ukraine (70%), sociologists said.

At the same time, 15% of respondents think Ukraine should join the Customs Union and 16% suppose that this should be done when compromise is reached in society, the poll showed. And 55% of Ukrainians said they were opposed to Ukraine joining the Customs Union.

The poll was held on March 21-29 and involved 2,000 respondents.
