Only 1.45% of Russians or 13% of the economically active population, are ready to invest in the stock market, a situation that has remained unchanged in the past five years, Public Opinion Foundation (FOM) Director Lyudmila Presnyakova said, citing research done for the Moscow Exchange.

“The financial literacy of the population is still very low,” Presnyakova said, cited by Prime.

Among the polled people, 1.7m, or 13%, have a ‘high level of readiness’ to invest in the stock market, which corresponds to only 1.45% of the total population of Russia.

Average and low levels of readiness have been registered among 5.2m and 4.2m people, respectively. Also, 1.8m people have no intention of investing at all.
