TUNIS. March 4 (Interfax) – Russia thinks that the European Union and the United States want to cancel agreements reached between Ukraine’s authorities and opposition on February 21.

“They are trying to annul the February 21 agreement on settling the crisis in Ukraine that was signed by Ukraine’s president and opposition,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told a news conference in the wake of a meeting with his Tunisian counterpart Mongi Hamdi on Tuesday.

“I turns out that they are incapable of influencing those who came to the Verkhovna Rada and regretfully are still dependent on armed people who play the role of master in the country,” he said.

“It is worth noting that there has been no room for mentioning the February 21 agreement in the EU’s voluminous statement on Ukraine. This is very alarming. It turns out that the EU does not want the national unity government or the disarmament of illegal bands or a constitutional reform that would take into full consideration the interests of all Ukrainian regions. This is sad,” Lavrov said.

“One urges us to create various international formats to promote settlements without explaining what the issue is about. If the issue is about the fulfillment of the February 21 agreement, then it is a subject for discussion given that the Ukrainian side is represented by all regions, not just one part of the country,” Lavrov said.
