KYIV. Sept 14 (Interfax) – More than half of all Ukrainians do not support the idea of holding protests in the country and one-fourth of them support their organization, but are not ready to participate in them, according to a poll conducted jointly by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS), the Razumkov Center and Socis Center.

According to the results of the poll announced at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine on Friday, 12.2% of the respondents support the idea of conducting protests and 25.8% support them, but are not ready to participate in them.

At the same time, 55.9% of the respondents spoke against protests.

More than two-thirds of the respondents (69.2%) said they are ready to defend their civil position by voting in elections, 28.2% said they are ready to do it by signing petitions, 12.4% said they are ready to participate in protests and 5.6% said they are ready to go to the Maidan.

Only 3.8% of the respondents said they are ready to use weapons to defend their civil or political positions.

The poll, which surveys 10,000 respondents, was conducted by a face-to-face interview in the residents’ residences on the territories controlled by the Ukrainian authorities in the period between August 30, 2018 and September 9, 2018.
