YEKATERINBURG. Nov 26 (Interfax) – Government officials who disagree with the official course should leave their posts, said ex-finance minister and head of the Civil Initiatives Committee Alexei Kudrin.

“I agree that if one does not support the policy pursued by the president or government, one should switch to the experts community, or join the political opposition,” Kudrin said at a press conference at the Interfax press center in Yekaterinburg on Tuesday.

There are quite a few examples of this kind, he said. “Some people drop out of the government for various reasons. Even the current government has been abandoned by at least two ministers, or perhaps even more. People would leave the posts of service chiefs, or deputy ministers due to their disagreements with current policies,” Kudrin said.

“I think Vladimir Putin has significantly enhanced the status of experts, which is no longer a shameful or minor position with regard to its importance,” Kudrin said.
