(Interfax – July 22, 2014) The “scenario” that has been used in Ukraine by “external” forces will not happen in Russia, President Vladimir Putin has said. He made these remarks at a meeting with the Russian Security Council, as reported by privately-owned news agency Interfax.

Speaking about the so-called “colour revolutions” and in particular Ukraine, Putin said: “This is absolutely unacceptable and counterproductive. This is destroying the current world order. Undoubtedly, such blunt methods will not work in Russia. The recipes that work in relation to weak and failed states infected by inner conflicts and contradictions will not work here.”

“Our opponents understand this,” he went on to say.

“Our people, our Russian citizens will not let it happen. And will never accept this,” Putin said, as quoted in a separate state-owned news agency RIA Novosti report.

According to Putin, the “scenarios” of the so-called “colour revolutions”, or “properly speaking coup d’etat” are provoked and organized by “external” forces in different parts of the world, including the post-Soviet territory. “The stake is placed on radical, neo-Nazi and fundamentalist forces,” Putin said, as quoted in an earlier Interfax report.

“We hear the language of sanctions and ultimatums more and more often in the world today. The very concept of state sovereignty is becoming blurred. The undesirable regimes and countries that conduct independent policies or simply stand in the way of someone else’s interests are destabilized,” Putin added.
