(Interfax – HANOVER, April 8, 2013) The European economy remains strong, despite the problems facing selected euro zone countries, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

“We’re sorry such things are happening on Cyprus, but the foundations of the European economy, of the German economy – and Germany is demonstrating very good rates of growth and economic reliability – (are strong). Therefore were do not have any major concerns, we wish our partners success,” Putin said at a press conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Hanover.

“I personally share Frau Merkel’s approaches to solving the problems of today – first we need to get rid of the systemic difficulties, and then progress to elements like building up money supply, help to existing countries. We have faith in economic policy and the European Commission, and in the economic policy of our German friends,” Putin said.
