Russia Fulfills Recommendations of the Group of States against Corruption

The Group of States against Corruption (GRECO) gives a generally positive evaluation to the anti-corruption efforts of the Russian authorities and to the implementation of the GRECO recommendations, the Russian Prosecutor’s General Office said.
“The GRECO has noted that Russia had accomplished a lot in a short term to implement the recommendations of the GRECO. The country has passed many regulations and has put various strategic measures into effect,” the Russian Prosecutor’s General Office said in a statement posted on its website on Friday.
Following a plenary session, where a supplement to the GRECO report on Russia was approved, the GRECO president said that “Russia has managed to make considerable progress in anti-corruption strategy and policy and the fight against corruption.
The GRECO plenary session was held in Strasburg in December 2012, the prosecutor’s office said.
“The supplement to the GRECO report on Russia fulfilling the recommendations after the first two evaluation rounds, which completed the evaluation procedure of these rounds on Russia,” has been added at the Strasburg session, the statement said.
“The approved supplement to the Russian report stipulates that 15 recommendations have been fully implemented, 11 partially and no outstanding recommendations are left,” the statement said.
“No additional information is needed after the completion of the evaluation procedures on the two rounds,” the statement said.
“In general, the approval of the Russian report as it is now is a considerable success for Russia, especially in comparison with some countries, which the GRECO put on closer monitoring and called “not fulfilling” its recommendations,” the Prosecutor’s General Office said on the GRECO reports to obtain the necessary level on the fulfillment of pending recommendations.
The Russian Prosecutor’s General Office is responsible for the country’s participation in the GRECO activities.
