(Interfax – Moscow, February 5, 2014) The West will stop criticizing Russia and will start loving it only if it becomes defenceless and weak, the Russian president’s press secretary Dmitriy Peskov has said.

“When we disband our army, give out concessions for all our natural resources and sell all our land to Western investors, then they will stop criticizing us. But this will never happen,” Peskov said in an interview with radio station Kommersant FM, citing “one very wise man”.

Referring to appeals to some Western countries’ leaders not to participate in the opening of the Olympic Games, in view of the adoption of a law banning gay propaganda among minors for example, the president’s press secretary said that criticism on this issue was often based on a lack of information.

“When journalists write about the law, they don’t even bother to read it. This law does not prohibit same-sex love, it prohibits not just propaganda but propaganda among minors,” Peskov said. !
