MOSCOW. Jan 16 (Interfax) – A quarter of Russians are not planning big purchases within the next six months, according to a report of the Romir Research Holding.

Russians are planning to significantly cut expenses on clothes, healthcare, vacations, and smartphones, Romir said.

“Certain types of expenses are hard to plan and carry out precisely. These include healthcare, car repairs, and purchases of household appliances,” it said.

Respondents told Romir that expenses of practically all kinds grew in 2018. “The only exception is household and electronic appliances, which have been demonstrating a downward trend for three years in a row, from 13% in 2016 to 7% in 2018. The number of families that made no big purchases over the past six months halved, from 31% to 15%,” it said.

Romir polled 1,500 respondents older than 18 in December.
