MOSCOW. May 19 (Interfax) – Moscow thinks that the Ukrainian authorities are lying about the reasons behind the tragedy, which occurred in Odessa.

“We are outraged with what happened in Odessa and how the Ukrainian authorities treat this, we are outraged with the attemp ts to lie about the reasons of what happened and attempts to hide the truth,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at a news conference in Moscow on Monday.

“Naturally, we can not take the roles of prosecutors and judges upon ourselves, we want that all facts – the countless number of which currently are emerging,” the minister said.

In particular, the reports that “ahead of the tragedy around a thousand militants – including suspected mercenaries from other countries paid by known individuals – arrived in Odessa,” Lavrov said.

“The evidence emerged that people died not of carbon dioxide but of poisonous chemical substance and gunshot wounds and that many were finished off when they managed to get out of the burning building and so on should be investigated as well,” the Russian minister said.

“In no way we can be satisfied with the investigation, which has been organized in Verkhovna Rada,” Lavrov said.
