KYIV. Sept 6 (Interfax) – For the first time in the past few months Luhansk was quiet overnight, with no shooting, but the city is still without electricity, water and communications, the city council said on Saturday.

“According to residents, as of September 6, the night was quiet for the first time in the past few months, and there was no shooting in town. The situation with no light, water and communications in Luhansk remains unchanged,” the spokesperson said.

The declared ceasefire enabled specialists to start rebuilding urban infrastructure. Preparations are underway to restart power supplies to Luhansk. Citizens have joined utility workers in cleaning up the territory.

“For a long time, Luhansk has been without salaries, pensions and social payouts. The most basic staple foods are on sale, but people are running out of money. Also, there have been no food, medications or fuel supplies to the regional center for a long time,” the spokesperson said.
