RUSSIALINK: “U.S. magazine’s call for bombing of Crimean Bridge reflects opinion of part of U.S. political elite – Aksyonov” – Interfax
SIMFEROPOL. May 17 (Interfax) – The article published in a U.S. weekly calling for the bombing of the Crimean Bridge is a reflection of the opinion of the U.S. political elite, Sergei Aksyonov, the head of Crimea, said.
“Essentially, the U.S. media outlet is disseminating calls for terrorist activities under the guise of freedom of speech. Unfortunately, it is not just a private opinion of an individual clinical Russophobe. It’s a reflection of the convictions of some part of the U.S. political elite. I am certain that most wars on our planet would stop if America eventually left the world alone and focused on its own problems,” Aksyonov said on his Facebook page on Thursday.
The bridge is reliably protected, Aksyonov said. “As to the security of the Crimean Bridge, it is ensured reliably and fully. Our Armed Forces and special services are ready to stop any provocations, no matter where they come from,” he said.
The 19 kilometers long Crimean Bridge became the longest bridge in Russia and connected the Crimean Peninsula with mainland Russia. It opened to cars and public transport on May 16 and will open to trucks in the fall and to trains in December 2019. The cost of the facility, whose general contractor is Arkady Rotenberg’s company Stroygazmontazh, is over 227 billion rubles.
The U.S. weekly The Washington Examiner earlier published an article calling for the bombing of the bridge. The Russian embassy in the United States demanded from the weekly comments on this publication.
