RUSSIALINK: “Russia, U.S. reached understanding in Osaka on strategic stability – Ryabkov” – Interfax
MOSCOW. July 1 (Interfax) – Moscow and Washington have reached substantial understanding on strategic stability, and Russia expects dialogue at the expert level to be resumed soon, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said.
“Strategic stability was one of the two areas on which substantial mutual understanding was reached in Osaka,” Ryabkov said at the Valdai Discussion Club on Monday commenting on the outcomes of the recent G20 summit from the standpoint of Russian-U.S. relations.
“We’re focused on resuming the relevant dialogue at the expert level in the near future,” he said.
The second was the trade-economic area, Ryabkov said.
“We see that, despite the sanctions and in large part contrary to the sanctions, the interest of American companies and American entrepreneurs in the Russian market has not declined,” he said.
“The exchange of remarks in Osaka to the effect that $25 billion is in fact nothing for states which have that kind of potential also manifested strong determination,” he said.
“As the Russian president has repeatedly said, we are not seeking confrontation, and we will be willing to cover our part of the road to steer the relations out of the current deadlock,” he said.
