MOSCOW. Sept 13 (Interfax) – Alexander Petrov and Ruslan Boshirov, whom the United Kingdom suspects of poisoning former Russian military intelligence officer Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia in Salisbury, said in an interview shown on RT that they were engaged in business related to sports nutrition, and this is the purpose of their occasional trips abroad.

“We study the market, see whether there is something new, some dietary supplements, amino acids, vitamins, or microelements. We select the most essential things, go there and decide how to supply new products from that market here,” Petrov and Boshirov said.

They said they have recently visited Switzerland several times and celebrated the New Year there. They said the trip was part of their vacation, but they also traveled to Europe on business related to sports nutrition, RT said.

The UK police said on September 5 that the investigation was prepared to indict two Russians for poisoning Sergei and Yulia Skripal in Salisbury. Scotland Yard posted the suspects’ photos and identified them as Alexander Petrov and Ruslan Boshirov. RT Editor-in-Chief Margarita Simonyan said on Thursday she had no doubts that she spoke “to these very people.”

“They showed me their passports, and they also look very much like the people whose photos were published,” she said.

Simonyan said later on her Telegram channel: “Who they are [the people who gave an interview to RT], what they were doing in England, whether they are really the ones they pretend to be – that I don’t know and can’t know,” Simonyan said.

“Their answers are their responsibility. And it’s for each viewer to decide whether to believe them or not. I don’t comment on my impressions on purpose. Except perhaps that they were really nervous and were sweating,” she said.
