RUSSIALINK: “Almost 3/4 of Russians trust Putin, 2/3 approved of him as president – poll” – Interfax
MOSCOW. June 21 (Interfax) – Russian President Vladimir Putin is trusted by a majority of citizens (72.3%), according to the findings of a VCIOM poll obtained by Interfax on Friday.
A week ago, the figure was 71.7%.
In the latest survey, which asked respondents directly about trust, Putin was the most trusted politician; 24.7% said they did not trust him.
The second most trusted politician is Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev (38.5%), Liberal Democratic Party leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky is third (35.4%), Communist Party leader Gennady Zyuganov is fourth (34.3%), and A Just Russia leader Sergei Mironov is in fifth place with 28.6%.
Putin also leads in a spontaneous confidence rating (where respondents were asked about trusting politicians but without their names). In this survey, Putin was trusted by 31.9% (last week, 31.1%), followed by Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu (13.5%) and Foreign Minister (11.3%).
Putin’s job performance was approved of by 64.3% and 27.5% disapproved.
Medvedev’s job performance was approved by 37.9% and 48% disapproved. The government’s job performance in general was approved by 42% and 46.8% said the opposite.
Over the past week the United Russia party’s electoral rating was up by 0.2 percentage points to 33.9%, the Communist Party’s was down by 0.4% to 15.4%. The figure has not changed for the Liberal Democratic Party (12%); A Just Russia polled at 6.5%, an increase of 0.7% from the previous week.
The nationwide poll was conducted among 1,600 respondents aged 18 and above every day on June 10-16.
