(Interfax – Novo-Ogarevo – 24 October) The report issued by the Centre for Strategic Research contains unduly pessimistic scenarios for the country’s development, which can not be accepted, the Russian president’s press secretary Dmitriy Peskov has said.

“The report is quite extensive, and gives an expert point of view, of which there are many. Of course, it will take us some time to read the full text of the report, but its summary tells us that, most likely, we can not agree with some of the apocalyptic judgments put forward by experts from this respected centre,” Peskov told reporters on Wednesday (24 October).

“We also believe that the conclusions about the dynamics of public sentiment are wrong,” Peskov added.

“We have never advocated assessing the situation in the country while wearing rose-coloured glasses, but from our point of view, there is no place for such unwarranted pessimism either,” Peskov said.

He said that the president’s administration was going to study the report, “as well as many other similar documents”, in detail.
