KYIV. June 23 (Interfax) – Over 1,000 miners from the mine Komsomolets Donbassa took part in a march marking the anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War and called on the sides of the military conflict in Donbas to cease fire.

“Over 000 miners working in the mine Komsomolets Donbassa, one of the largest mines in Ukraine, marched from the mine to the center of the city Kirovskoye on June 22. The rally began with a minute of silence in memory of the millions of Ukrainians killed in the Great Patriotic War,” the press service for the mine reported.

According to the report, the miners called on all sides to the military conflict in Donbas to lay down their weapons, cease fire, and stop killing people and destroying enterprises.

“Among the rally participants were miners from the first and second shifts, many of which were underground or tried to enter the mine when it was taken over by armed people in armored vehicles with DNR symbols,” the report says.

“The miners were joined by hundreds of residents in the Kirovsky square. Many people were outraged by yesterday’s armed attack on the enterprise and the abduction of two top officials”, the press service reported.
