Interfax: DPR reports nearly 1,700 Ukrainian army attacks in past 24 hours

DONETSK. Dec 19 (Interfax) – The self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) recorded 1,684 attacks by the Ukrainian military, nine houses were damaged in the past 24 hours, senior officer of the DPR Defense Ministry Eduard Basurin said.

“At the same time, the adversary fired 54 122mm caliber artillery shells, 310 120mm and 82mm caliber mines, three tank projectiles, as well as 872 rounds from various types of grenade launchers. Besides, infantry fighting vehicle weapons and small arms were used,” Basurin said at a briefing on Monday.

Twenty-one DPR-held populated localities were shelled, he said. “A direct shell hit damaged a house in artillery and mortar attacks from the positions of the Ukrainian law enforcement forces in the Kalininskyi district in Horlivka. A residential house was damaged in the Petrovsky district of Donetsk, seven houses were damaged in Kominternove,” he said.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces undertook offensive actions in the direction of Kalynivka in the Debaltseve area on Sunday, Basurin said. “As a result, over ten Ukrainian families were left without a breadwinner, over 20 people were injured,” he said.

“The attempts at breakthrough in the south and north were recorded in the past 24 hours. In the north in the Kalynivka area and in the Leninske-Sakhanka area in the south of the DPR,” Basurin also said.
