Interfax: DPR reports dozens of destroyed houses in latest Ukraine’s army shell attacks

DONETSK. July 10 (Interfax) – Ten houses were destroyed and over 70 buildings were damaged in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) due to the Ukrainian army shell attacks over the past 24 hours, senior officer with the DPR Defense Ministry Eduard Basurin said.

“In the shell attacks on Zaitseve, Horlivka and Donetsk ten houses have been destroyed and nearly 70 buildings have been damaged,” the Donetsk news agency quoted Basurin as saying.

Besides, the DPR Defense Ministry records the concentration of heavy military hardware, in particular, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have dispatched over 50 pieces of military hardware, including 19 tanks and six multiple rocket launchers Grad in the area of the Pervomaiske, Novohryhorivka, Sukha Balka villages, he said.

In total, the Ukrainian military have shelled 556 times the DPR territory, including 409 times with mortars, over the past 24 hours, Basurin said. Four civilians were injured in the shell attacks on Donetsk and Horlivka.

The death toll has reached the record level in June over the past nine months, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has said previously.

A total of 12 people were killed and another 57 were injured, it said.

The gunfire attacks killed four people and injured 37 who make up the majority of the casualties. Besides, the agency said in a report that the parties to the conflict had specifically used the artillery systems, which are banned from the use by the Minsk agreements.

Another five people died and 14 were injured, triggering the mines and improvised explosive devices.

A total of 9,740 people have died and 21,880 have been injured since the start of the conflict in Ukraine, according to the UN OCHA estimates. Up to 2,000 civilians are among the fatalities.
