FMS: Number of Ukrainians staying in Russia 1 million up year-on-year

MOSCOW. Nov 20 (Interfax) – Approximately 2.6 million Ukrainian nationals are staying in Russia at the moment, which is one million more than a year ago, Federal Migration Service (FMS) chief Konstantin Romodanovsky said at the Thursday meeting of the Council of Legislators dedicated to migration policy issues.

“About 2.6 million Ukrainian citizens are currently staying in Russia, which is one million more than a year ago. Some 826,000 of them come from the southeast,” Romodanovsky said.

A total of 39,500 Ukrainians have been accommodated at 840 shelters, he added.
