MOSCOW. Jan 22 (Interfax) – Members of the Pussy Riot punk band Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Maria Alyokhina intend to visit U.S. prisons.

“We are going to visit several U.S. prisons (including a maximum security prison for women) in the state of New York with a team in early February. As local political activists told us, the prisons are most severe in Singapore, now we will study what conditions prisoners have in New York,” Tolokonnikova said in a statement posted on her Facebook account on Wednesday.

In early February Tolokonnikova and Alyokhina will speak at a human rights concert in Brooklyn, the document said. “I will say a couple of words with Masha [Alyokhina] at the human rights concert organized by Amnesty International in Brooklyn in the evening on February 5,” Tolokonnikova said.

Pussy Riot members were pardoned under an amnesty and said that they intended to protect human rights.
