Seventy people walk free under ‘economic amnesty’

(Interfax – MOSCOW, Aug 14, 2013) The number of convicts who have walked free under the so-called economic amnesty has now exceeded seventy, the press service for the Federal Service on the Enforcement of Punishments has reported.

“Seven people who served their sentences in correctional establishments and 35 people registered with criminal enforcement inspectorates have been released under a decree issued by the State Duma on July 2, 2013 on amnesty,” the report obtained by Interfax on Wednesday says.

According to the Federal Service on the Enforcement of Punishments, another thirty citizens have been released from detention facilities due to decisions made by interrogation bodies, investigators, or courts.
