The Russian embassy in Washington has “for the first time in many years” not received any official greetings from the United States on the occasion of Russia Day on 12 June, RIA Novosti news agency has said.

“We can confirm that we have not received any Russia Day greetings from the US side. This happened for the first time within our recollection. Make your own conclusions,” Nikolai Lakhonin, a spokesman for the embassy, told the news agency.

The agency had asked him to confirm whether there were no US greetings for the first time in 25 years.
