Prokhorov Could Team Up With Luzhkov in Snap Elections

(Moscow Times – themoscowtimes.com – June 10, 2013) Businessman and Civil Platform party head Mikhail Prokhorov has announced his plans to work together with former Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov in the upcoming city elections, a news report said Monday.

“Last Saturday I met with Yuri Luzhkov. We had a two-hour-long conversation during which we discussed the plans for summer,” Interfax reported, citing the Civil Platform Party leader.

luzhkov-200The billionaire added that the meeting has given him high hopes for fruitful cooperation with Luzhkov, who was mayor from 1992 to 2010.

Prokhorov declined to give further details on any possible collaboration, Interfax reported.

Earlier, Prokhorov announced that the Civil Platform will introduce their candidate for the mayoral elections at a press conference on June 14.

This year will see the capital’s first direct mayoral elections in a decade, following the decision by Sergei Sobyanin to resign and run for the post again in a snap election on September 8.
