(Interfax – PYATIGORSK, August 19, 2013) People, who are constantly working in the information technology sphere, bloggers included, should be involved in developments in the sphere of information security, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said.

“We must be ready to protect ourselves in case of any attack against our country or our interests. In my point of view, it is utterly necessary to use our specialists, including bloggers and those working with information technologies,” Medvedev said during a meeting with participants of the Mashuk 2013 youth forum.

This is necessary “exactly because no forces and no special services will ever fill this role the way those, who are constantly emerged in it, do,” Medvedev said.

“This is needed so that the state can become more modern. This is needed so that our state will not bear its own Snowdens,” the prime minister said.

When asked when Russia would have information forces and whether it was planned to establish cooperation of these forces with bloggers and public leaders on the Internet, Medvedev said: “The developments in this sphere are nevertheless being encouraged. And it is not the issue of name – forces or not forces. It is evident that what is called information rivalry, currently determines very many processes happening in the world,” Medvedev said.

On the one hand, it is good that wars are held “in cyber space because it is bloodless,” the prime minister said.

“But we have to be ready to protect ourselves,” he said.
