“Every fifth Russian worker earns less than RUB15,000 ($250) per month, according to … a study by the RIA Rating agency [cited by] … RIA Novosti …. Half of Russian workers average RUB17,000 to RUB44,000 per month according to the source. Regions with the best pay, according to the article:
- Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District with 27% earning more than RUB100,000 ($1,505) per month
- Chukotka Autonomous Region with 26% above that level
- Nenets Autonomous District
- Magadan region
- Moscow
Incomes in remote mineral-rich regions reportedly are higher than in Russian’s European portion, but offset by difficult logistics pushing up the cost of living in those areas.
