MOSCOW. Oct 1 (Interfax) – The Russian government is developing measures to prevent attempts to disrupt the operations of the Russian segment of the Internet, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

“It is necessary to continue to promptly prevent attempts to disrupt the stable operations of the Russian segment of the Internet. Interagency exercises to prevent such attempts were conducted in July this year. Based on their results, the government is developing relevant measures,” Putin said at a Russian Security Council session on Wednesday.

These measures should help reliably guarantee Russian sovereignty in this field, he said.

Putin also addressed the development of domestic technologies, equipment, and software. “It is necessary to efficiently stimulate their use by government institutions and our companies. The relevant goals have been set to our agencies,” he said.
