KYIV. Aug 21 (Interfax) – Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko could make a decision to disolve the Verkhovna Rada on the Independence Day, his press secretary Svyatoslav Tseholko said.

“Poroshenko on the disbandment of the Verkhovna Rada: the decision will be made when constitutional reasons arise. And their time falls on Independence Day,” Tseholko wrote on Twitter.

Ukraine marks its Independence Day on August 24.

On July 24 Verkhovna Rada Chairman Oleksandr Turchynov, speaking before parliament, formally announced that the coalition of parliamentary factions, European Choice, had ceased to exist.

Failure to form a new coalition within 30 days after dissolution of the previous one gives reasons for the president to dissolve the Verkhovna Rada and hold early parliamentary elections.
