MOSCOW. March 2 (Interfax) – Russian Justice Minister Alexander Konovalov said the number of inspections of non-government organizations (NGOs) scheduled for this year is declining.

“When organizing inspections of NGOs, the Justice Ministry uses information received from other public administration agencies, and it has to be said that the total number of inspections conducted in 2015 went down 12% from 2014,” Konovalov told a ‘government hour’ meeting in the Federation Council on Wednesday.

The minister said the number of inspections scheduled for this year is “another 22% less [than in 2014].”

“There will be some 5,500 inspections. We are trying to emphasize the quality of work, the need for spot checks, the quality of organization of the work to determine problems with the enforcement of laws and appropriate response to these violations,” Konovalov said
