MOSCOW. Dec 14 (Interfax) – The leader of Russia’s liberal Yabloko party, Sergei Mitrokhin, has described opposition activist Alexei Navalny as an “oligarchic project.”

“Here is an oligarchic project under the tentative name Alexei Navalny. We know that this project is supported by the big interests and money of dissatisfied oligarchs and enjoys latent support from the Russian elite,” Mitrokhin told a Yabloko meeting.

“It’s a project that’s hard to counteract. I realized this during the mayoral election. But we must find the energy to counteract it if we don’t want a second edition of the oligarchic feast of the 90s, which ended up in devastation for the have-nots,” he said.

He also had a go at billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov, leader of Civil Platform. “His job is to control democratic voters via pseudo-opposition rhetoric. That is the meaning of the political project with the tentative name Prokhorov,” Mitrokhin said.
