DONETSK. Nov 21 (Interfax) – Six residential buildings were damaged as a result of artillery strikes carried out by the Ukrainian army against the city on November 20, a spokesman for the Emergency Situations Ministry of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) told Interfax on Friday.

“Five houses in the Kuibyshevsky district and one in the Kyivsky district were damaged by the Ukrainian army’s artillery strikes. One of our firefighting crews came under fire as well. The driver of the fire engine sustained minor injuries,” he said.

The spokesman said he does not know whether anyone else was killed or injured as a result of yesterday’s strikes. Damage was caused to districts located in the vicinity of Donetsk airport.

The Ukrainian army, for its part, reported earlier that its positions had come under fire 39 times in the past 24 hours, the press center said. The situation was particularly tense near the cities of Donetsk, Luhansk and Debaltseve.

Strikes using Grad multiple-launch rocket systems continue in the vicinity of Donetsk. Ukrainian soldiers managed to repel armed units’ attacks near Donetsk airport, the army operation press center said.

The Ukrainian army has launched 18 artillery strikes against militia-held positions over the past 24 hours, it said.
