(Interfax – ST. PETERSBURG. June 26, 2013) An ad hoc commission of the Federation Council commission will investigate whether foreign security services have been really monitoring the private life of citizens in social networks, Federation Council Chairperson Valentina Matviyenko said.

“We have set up a working group, a commission entrusted with holding parliamentary inquiries. It will find out whether human rights have been breached and private life has been invaded and what are the consequences,” she told reporters in St. Petersburg on Wednesday.

“The international media said that private life of citizens was being monitored. We will find that out and make relevant proposals,” she added.

The commission will unite Federation Council members and various specialists, Matviyenko said.
