MOSCOW. Oct 29 (Interfax) – The Russian Communist Party Central Committee Secretariat has backed the proposal of party leader Gennady Zyuganov to set the date for making demand for the government’s resignation after the public events dedicated to the 96th anniversary of the Russian Revolution of 1917, Party Central Committee Secretary Sergei Obukhov said.

“The party Secretariat discussed the issue on Monday. It was decided to set the date for making the demand for the government’s resignation in the State Duma after November 7, at a meeting of the Russian Communist Party Central Committee Presidium,” Obukhov told Interfax on Tuesday.

As a rule, the Presidium meets on Tuesdays or on Thursdays. Hence, the party may make its decision either on November 12 or on November 14, he said.

“Some 150,000 signatures in favor of the resignation of Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev’s Cabinet had been collected online by the beginning of this week,” Obukhov said.

In his words, criticism of the incumbent government will be the leitmotif of the November 7 actions. “We will bring to the street as many people demanding the resignation of this government as possible,” the party functionary said.

Zyuganov set the goal of “holding massive and remarkable actions of the Russian Communist Party across the country” at the Secretariat’s meeting, Obukhov continued. The protesters will criticize the budget of 2014 and the prospective period of 2015-2016, “which is a deadly budget meeting only the interests of billionaires instead of the majority of people,” the Communist Party said.

The constitution allows the State Duma to pass a motion of no-confidence in the government with no less than 226 votes, after which the president may announce the government’s resignation. The goal cannot be achieved without support from United Russia or Popular Front deputies. The other three factions – the Communist Party, the Liberal Democratic Party and A Just Russia – have only 213 seats in the State Duma.
