Average funeral cost in Russia is $830

MOSCOW. Oct 28 (Interfax) – The average cost of a package of ritual services in Russia is now $830, Alexei Suloyev, chairman off the Guild of Ritual Service Organizations of the Moscow Chamber of Trade and Commerce, said.

“Russia is at the bottom of the list for this indicator,” Suloyev said at an international conference of funeral business experts held on Monday.

Suloyev said he has information that the average funeral cost is $1,200 in China, $3,000 in Portugal, Spain and Italy, $4,000 in Germany, $9,000 in the UK, and $10,000 in Canada.

The average funeral cost is the highest in the United States ($13,000) and Japan ($14,000).

Some 2 million people die in Russia every year, Suloyev said.
